As one of the world’s leading aerospace companies, FACC AG sets new standards for the aerospace industry with its innovative technology solutions. The aerospace group recently secured another major project: FACC has been commissioned by Rolls-Royce to develop and manufacture composite components for the new Pearl 10X engine, and is thus represented on engine and aircraft platforms newly launched as a technology partner.
FACC is synonymous with high technology in the aerospace industry – and will now bring its longstanding expertise in innovative lightweight engine solutions to the design of the all-new Rolls-Royce Pearl 10X. The British engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce has been using FACC products in the production of its engines for civil aviation for more than 20 years. More recently, FACC was commissioned by Rolls-Royce to develop and manufacture the complete composite package for the Pearl 10X engine, securing a strategically important new project. In addition to the branch ducts and maintenance doors, FACC will also supply the fan track liners, spinner and cable feedthrough. “With the Pearl 10X, Rolls-Royce offers the business aviation market a revolutionary and powerful engine. The fact that Rolls-Royce has selected us as a technology partner for its new top-of-the-range product confirms once again our position as a leader in the field of lightweight solutions for aircraft engines”, underlines Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC AG.
FACC on board as a partner for new engines and aircraft
Rolls-Royce officially unveiled the Pearl 10X in early May, the third and most powerful member of the Pearl engine family for the business aviation market. Compared to the previous generation of Rolls-Royce business jet engines, the Pearl 10X boasts a 5% increase in efficiency combined with excellent noise and emissions characteristics. With its sophisticated component design, high-tech materials and advanced manufacturing technologies, FACC is able to help Rolls-Royce make engines more efficient, lighter and quieter. “Engines are among the most stressed high-performance aircraft components – producing their components is very complex and requires the skills of experienced experts. The production of the outer skin in particular, i.e. the outer layer of the Pearl 10X bypass duct, requires the highest precision in addition to state-of-the-art manufacturing processes”, emphasizes Günter Nelböck, Vice President Engines & Nacelles and Aerostructures of the FACC. “FACC’s outstanding performance and excellent customer support play a key role in meeting customer expectations.” As confirmation of its innovative lightweight solutions and 100% commitment to “best quality – on time”, FACC has again been admitted to the exclusive “Rolls-Royce High Performing Supplier Group”. FACC is one of a handful of companies that have been members of this exclusive group of supplier partners since its inception in 2019. “We are very proud that Rolls-Royce has had an intensive cooperation with FACC for over two decades. To be named a high-performing supplier again and to receive this contract is proof that the exceptional dedication and know-how of our employees is highly appreciated by our customers,” says Nelböck.
