With robust development in 2021 that ended with 95% year-on-year GMV growth, SEVEN FRESH, JD.com’s omnichannel fresh food store, plans to accelerate its expansion by opening 12 additional stores in the South China in 2022, in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (the Big Bay Area) Big Bay area and 15 other stores in North China, in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area .
SEVEN FRESH has announced its development goals by the end of 2021, striving to become a premier retail brand in China within the next 5-7 years, mainly focusing on two regions, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration and the Greater Bay Area. As eight stores already opened in the Grande Baie region last year, SEVEN FRESH expects to have more than 20 stores in the region by 2022.
“After registering a GMV of nearly 3 billion RMB yuan in 2021, SEVEN FRESH will set a target of 100 billion GMV in the future,” Feng Zheng, president of SEVEN FRESH, noted in an interview.
The SEVEN FRESH store
At present, SEVEN FRESH has 48 stores in 13 cities in 9 Chinese provinces as well as Beijing. As SEVEN FRESH takes the omnichannel approach, combining online and offline services, customers can receive their on-demand delivery orders within 30 minutes from nearby stores within a 2-mile radius.
“SEVEN FRESH chooses the Great Bay region as one of the main centers of interest, because the population of the region has shown a concrete demand for fresh produce,” added Feng Zheng. “JD.com also has a strong supply chain base in southern China, with many suppliers based in Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
