It was recently revealed that Netflix removed an animated series called Pearl which featured the Duchess of Sussex as an executive producer. The children’s program was to focus on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in a variety of influential women throughout history.
This follows a massive drop in subscriber numbers for the streaming giant.
Last month, Netflix announced that its subscriber numbers fell by 200,000 in the first quarter of 2022, well below forecasts.
The company also saw more than $50 billion wiped from its market value as its shares fell 35%.
The Sussexes’ ‘Pearl’ track was one of several projects Netflix scrapped in a money-saving effort, which also saw around 25 people fired as part of its marketing moves.
Following the loss of the project, there has been speculation that other projects from the couple’s Archewell Productions program may be scrapped.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that “clearly” the Duke and Duchess will be pressured to “produce more and probably faster” for the platform.
However, Mr Fitzwilliams raised the question of what kind of content the couple might come up with.
When announcing their deal in September 2020, Harry and Meghan said they were aiming to produce documentaries, docuseries, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programs, all of which aim to be “inspiring “.

He claims it poses a “serious problem” for the monarchy, nodding towards speculation that the book could see Harry making new claims about his experience as a royal.
The book, published by Penguin Random House, is slated for release this fall.
A press release on the title said that Harry would “share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses and life lessons that helped shape him”.
In a statement when the memoir was announced, Harry said: “I write this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a series of bombshell claims about their time as senior royals during an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.
Royal watchers have speculated that similar claims will feature in Harry’s biography and some have commented on the timing of the book as it will be released amid the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Richard Fitzwilliams has addressed those who have expressed hope that the book will be postponed to spare the monarch hardship during her celebratory year.
He said: “Hopefully it will be rescheduled but the Sussexes are totally unpredictable.”
