WonderSlice will open in the bottling department food hall in June.

The Bottling Department Food Hall at the Pearl complex in San Antonio will soon win WonderSlice, a new local pizzeria that promises “wonder by the slice.”

WonderSlice will open in June, serving not only slices, but wholemeal pies, subs, salads and soft serve ice cream, according to a statement from Pearl’s food incubator. The new spot aims to pay tribute to the heyday of neighborhood pizzerias with creations like its Green Monster pizza with parmesan cream, grated zucchini and pesto.

“We are thrilled to share our unique perspective on our neighborhood pizzeria with San Antonio,” chef-owner Ben Schwartz said in a statement. “No frills, honest, delicious and satisfying food is what we all want and need right now.”

Schwartz is a transplant from San Antonio via Cambridge, Massachusetts. His pedigree includes stints at Michelin-starred restaurant Arzak in San Sebastian as well as Austin’s acclaimed restaurants Uchiko, Emmer & Rye, Le Politique and Vino Vino.

“We look forward to welcoming WonderSlice and Chef Ben to Pearl’s Food Hall,” said Elizabeth Fauerso, CEO of Pearl Commercial. “This offer will be a great experience for regulars and visitors alike. What’s better than a pizza in the park? »

The bottling department was created in 2017 to enable local food startups to grow into stand-alone concepts. It currently hosts Tenko Ramen, Mi Roti, Chilaquil, Kineapple and Park Bar.
