London, Jan. 19, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Deepak Shukla spoke at TEDxHultLondon about recruitment secrets for long-term success. Shukla shared some of the key strategies that helped him find talented employees who helped him grow his business.

This TEDx event was held at Hult International Business School with an audience of aspiring business leaders. Deepak Shukla’s goal was to change the way they look at recruiting by sharing some unusual tips for finding great talent.
Changing the recruiting approach
This TEDx Talk focused on changing the way people approach recruiting in general. Instead of relying heavily on CVs to learn more about candidates, Shukla challenged her audience to see that critical traits cannot be analyzed based on the information on a CV.
Shukla says, “When we think about the true markers of what success entails, it all comes down to the character and makeup of your constitution, what it takes to stay proud when the going gets tough. It’s not easy to tell on a CV if someone is a single parent or if they come from a difficult background. These things are not immediately apparent on a CV.
Shukla explained how key character traits aren’t obvious on resumes in her speech. Therefore, they should not be the main factor when looking for candidates. He recruited talented people like Lydia Sims, who worked her way up from intern to COO.
Lydia Sims shared her thoughts on recruiting; she says: “When you’re applying for a job, it never hurts to ‘shoot for the stars’. Apply for your dream job, even if you’re not fully qualified. You never know who you may meet who is willing to take a chance and train you to make sure you have the right skills.If a candidate shows drive and enthusiasm with a willingness to learn, sometimes that trumps a certain level of ‘experience.’ for me, that’s what happened with Pearl Lemon. I was in digital marketing school and once did an internship that helped startups. Deepak was ready to give it a shot and to train/mold myself in such a way that I can become high performer.Now, as COO, I am taking a similar approach to what Dee did with me.

Six years later, Shukla spoke at TEDxHultLondon to focus on critical recruiting strategies that can help companies achieve long-term success. He’s also due to speak at TEDxCambridge in March 2022, and he’ll share more insights that helped him build the Pearl Lemon Group.
