In line with its commitment to engage stakeholders in advancing technological growth in the Nigerian oil and gas industry, Pacegate Energy and Resources Limited (PEARL) in partnership with Canadian Energy Solutions (CES), Jacam Catalyst and Polaris Bank have recently hosted a one-day webinar discussing the need for industry players to be mindful of the complex world of corrosion and to reduce corrosion in the petroleum industry using the most advanced technologies in today.
Corrosion in pipelines and downholes is one of the major challenges facing oil and gas industries worldwide. This has made corrosion control or management a major consideration before creating an industry that will transport products through pipelines and it has been a vital discourse among the relevant stakeholders in the oil and gas industry Nigerian.
Sharing the perspective of many experts, Managing Director of Pacegate Energy & Resources Limited, Franklin Oranusih alongside other keynote speakers, Dave Horton, Chief Technology Officer of CES Energy Solution, Jeff Soderberg, Director of Research and development at CES Energy Solutions and Dallas Disney, technical services manager for Jacam Catalyst, said the importance of corrosion control cannot be overemphasized and that every hand should be on deck to prevent corrosion at every stage of oil and gas production.
According to Franklin, “PEARL was created to solve industry problems through innovative solutions and partnerships. Corrosion is one of the major challenges encountered in the petroleum industry. Experts deal with water and other corrosive components of crude while working with mild steel pipes and tanks. It affects the operations of big companies and affects Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. It is therefore necessary to adopt the methods available to monitor and control it. This partnership and webinar series demonstrates our commitment to it, and we’re excited to lead the conversations. »
He noted, however, that to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted flow of oil and gas to end users, it is imperative that field operators, pipeline engineers and designers be aware of corrosion, as pipelines and their fittings would suffer material damage due to corrosion. “In order to avoid the threat of corrosion and to maintain a safe and reliable pipeline infrastructure, substantial research efforts must be devoted to implementing pipeline leak detection and location using different approaches. We are pleased to bring together industry experts and thought leaders to dialogue and exchange ideas on how to address the threat posed by corrosion and come up with a sustainable mitigation and prevention plan,” said Franklin.
He added that Pacegate Energy & Resources Limited (PEARL) will continue to engage industry experts and investors in the development of hedging strategies to combat current industry challenges with a view to unlocking the inherent value in the near future. . The next webinar is scheduled for June 2, 2022 and is themed “Scale Inhibitor: Application and Monitoring”.
