Uganda: Kcb Bank Uganda injects 70 million shs into the Pearl Rally

KCB Bank Uganda has announced a 70 million shillings sponsorship package for the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2022 (POAUR).

KCB Bank Uganda has announced a 70 million shillings sponsorship package for the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2022 (POAUR). The announcement was made Thursday morning in Kampala.

The rally organized by the Ugandan Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) will count as the third round of the African Rally Championship (ARC) as well as the National Rally Championship (NRC).

The POAUR will run for the first time since the outbreak of the COVID-29 pandemic and will start again from May 6-8 in Lugazi, with some of the best rally crews from Kenya, Burundi and Uganda set to honor the event.

Commenting on the support for the Pearl of Africa Rally, Diana Komukama Ssempebwa, Head of Marketing at KCB Bank Uganda said, “We will be providing support worth UGX 70 million to the Pearl of Africa Rally 2022.”

“We believe that this contribution will greatly support the preparation and execution of the planned activities which will take place until the week in which the gathering is planned.”

Ssempebwa added: “KCB Bank Uganda recognizes FMU’s efforts to develop motorsport in the country by professionalizing it both locally and regionally.”

“We thank the association for giving us the opportunity to take part in initiatives that not only bring together communities that mobilize behind those they support, but contribute to the socio-economic development of the country,” concluded Ssempebwa.

The agreement cements the Bank’s footprint in supporting sports that cut across various disciplines, including motor sports, golf, athletics, chess, rugby, volleyball and football.

The bank wants to further deepen its contribution to sport in the East African region, to support communities and build a critical mass of sporting talent.

Dip Ruparelia, President of the Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of Uganda, mentioned; “We appreciate the cash support of UGX 70 million from KCB Bank Uganda.”

“It will help us in the organization of this year’s rally and we call on Ugandans to come and support the participants by rallying behind them.”

Ruparelia further revealed: “Motorsport has progressed and we are happy to see some of our drivers taking part in regional rallies which would not be possible if there was no financial support from partners like KCB Bank. Uganda.”

“Therefore, we are calling on more organizations to support the industry so it can continue to grow.”

The rally will cover a total of 513 kilometers with just over 212 kilometers covered in competition over nine sections over two days while there will be 197 kilometers as a liaison distance.
