Just yesterday, Arcade Fire was announced as a surprise addition to the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The band took the stage at the Mojave tent on Friday night; after briefly stopping the performance at the start to draw attention to a medical emergency in the crowd, Arcade Fire played tracks from their upcoming album WE plus fan favorites “Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)”, “Ready to Start”, “The Suburbs”, and “Wake Up”. Win Butler too thanked Pearl Jam, whose decision to boycott Ticketmaster in 1993 ultimately led to the creation of Coachella. A representative for Arcade Fire told Pitchfork that, for now, the band is only scheduled to perform during Coachella’s first weekend. The group is preparing the release of the new album WEwhich arrives on May 6. 2017 follow-up Everything now was produced by Nigel Godrich, Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. So far, Arcade Fire has shared the first single “The Lightning I, II”, along with a music video directed by Emily Kai Bock. Shortly after announcing WEWill Butler has revealed that he left the band after the recording of the new album.
