Jeopardy Champion Amy Schneider Reveals the Sweet Reason She Wears a Pearl Necklace on the Show

Running Peril! champion Amy Schneider has been soaring lately. The Ohio native is on a 33-fight winning streak and recently became the first woman on the show to break the million dollar mark. Schneider has gained a number of followers as she has been stepping out of her competition, and those fans may have noticed that she always seems to wear a certain accessory. The engineering manager recently shared the sweet reason why she wears the pearl necklace on the show.

Amy Schneider spoke to USA TODAY and said the jewelry she saw wearing Peril! was a gift from his girlfriend Geneviève that she received on the first anniversary they spent together as a couple, with Geneviève telling Schneider, “Every woman should have a pearl necklace.” Schneider said she wore the pearl necklace for the first taping and loved having a reminder of Genevieve with her throughout the competition.

It was the first meaningful time I’d spent away from her since we started dating. And so having that was just kind of a nice reminder, just kind of a comfort, that she was home waiting for me.

How sweet is it? With contestants filming multiple episodes a day and having to stay on top of their mental game all the time, I imagine the Peril! the atmosphere is quite stressful. Amy Schneider – who is Peril!is the first transgender champion to come out – being able to keep the gift from her girlfriend to remind her of the support she has at home must be so heartwarming.

When Amy Schneider left Ohio to be on Peril!, she and Genevieve may have known this would be their first split, but they couldn’t expect her to knock on the door anytime soon for second place all-time for consecutive games won. With 33 wins, Schneider recently surpassed 2019 champion James Holzhauer’s 32. Matt Amodio’s position is also in trouble, as he won 38 games before being dethroned. Schneider still has a ways to go, however, before he achieves the all-time record, held by the current Peril! host Ken Jennings with 78 straight wins.

Amy Schneider’s $1,111,800 in regular season earnings is good for fourth all-time behind her compatriot Peril! legends Matt Amodio, James Holzhauer and Ken Jennings. The fact that Schneider’s impressive streak followed Amodio’s so closely (with Jonathan Fisher knocking down Amodio and going on his own 11-game run) has caused fans – and those most senior behind the scenes at Peril! — to wonder if there’s a reason for all the recent successes. As fans wondered if the clues were getting easier, executive producer Michael Davies assured viewers that wasn’t it, and the writers continued to expand the variety of material contestants should know.

Whatever the reasons, Amy Schneider should just keep doing what she’s been doing, because it’s working, and if her girlfriend’s pearl necklace makes her feel connected enough at home to keep working, great.
