The Pearl Beach Lions Club will host a Cinco de Mayo fiesta with an all-you-can-eat Mexican buffet on May 5.
The public is invited to partake in the event, which will serve tacos, enchiladas, beans, rice, tamales and more. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and there will be raffles for a great selection of gift baskets from local businesses and a 50/50.
Event chairman Keith Green said the Pearl Beach Lions Club has been working on the event for a few months.
“It’s a fundraiser for our club,” he said. “We haven’t had bingo since before the pandemic and would like to raise funds to help us continue to serve our community. We offer scholarships to local high school students. We are hosting a free event for children. We also house the Pearl Beach Clothing Pantry and maintain a medical supply closet for residents in need.
Green said organizers hoped to see 60 to 70 people attend the event.
The cost of the event is $30 per person. Tickets can be purchased at any Pearl Beach Lion and at Amiels Enterprises Inc. and Algonac Chiropractic Family Wellness Center.
There will also be a wagon ride for dinner attendees at the Live Cemetery Ghost Tour, which will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery from 5-8 p.m. on May 5 as part of Clay’s Bicentennial Celebration. Township, Clay Days.
During the tour, participants can visit the graves of famous people and their “living ghosts”, made up of volunteers, will speak for themselves. People from Chris Smith, Emely Butterfield and Clell Perry will be included.
“We thank everyone for their support of the Pearl Beach Lions and hope you will join us for this event or join as a member,” Green said.
