Pearl Jam Postpones 2020 North American Tour Including OKC Show

Two years later Pearl Jam became one of the first major bands to postpone tour plans due to COVID-19 concernsThe Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have finally announced the rescheduled dates for their long-awaited tour in support of their “Gigaton” album.

Originally planned for 2020, the emblematic group officially rescheduled their North American tour dates for May and September 2022.

The legendary Seattle hitmakers will now play in Oklahoma City on September 20 at Paycom Center, which was known as Chesapeake Energy Arena at the time the tour was originally announced.

Pearl Jam was originally scheduled to perform at OKC on April 6, 2020. The band announced they were postponing the tour on March 9, two days before confirmed case of COVID-19 at OKC Thunder game against Utah Jazz at Oklahoma City’s downtown arena has resulted in widespread event delays, cancellations and closures across the country.

Josh Klinghoffer, former guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers solo project, Plural, will support Pearl Jam on the tour. Klinghoffer will also join Pearl Jam as a touring member on the newly announced dates.

How to get tickets for Pearl Jam’s rescheduled OKC show

All tickets purchased through the original date of OKC 2020 will be valid on this newly announced postponed date, according to an email from a spokeswoman for the venue.

A special ticket presale for all tour dates is ongoing for currently eligible Pearl Jam Ten Club members.

There will be no general public sale. All public tickets will be available through Ticketmaster Verified Fan Registration, according to a press release.

Ticket registration for verified fans is open until 11:59 p.m. on March 27, and the on-sale for verified fans begins at 10 a.m. on March 29. To register, go to https://verifiedfan.ticketmaster.com/pearljam.

Pearl Jam’s long-delayed 2020 European tour dates have been rescheduled to June and July.

As part of their ongoing commitment to tackling the the band’s carbon footprint, Pearl Jam — founding members Eddie Vedder (vocals and guitar), Jeff Ament (bass guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), and Mike McCready (lead guitar), plus Matt Cameron (drums), who joined in 1998 — will pay $200 per ton for the carbon dioxide mitigation of the “Gigaton” tour, a 10-fold increase from previous years.

According to the Paycom Center website, $5 of each ticket price is a charitable contribution to the Vitalogy Foundation.

“We are proud of our past efforts to mitigate our unavoidable carbon footprint from touring over the past 20 years, but the time to multiply that effort is clearly right now,” Gossard said in a statement. “By committing to this aggressive pricing, we hope to also amplify our efforts and bring together partners who share our urgency to make the investments and innovations needed to move our world towards a more carbon-conscious and balanced economy.

Although touring plans have been put on hold, Pearl Jam’s latest album ‘Gigaton’ was released in March 2020. Featuring fan favorites ‘Dance of the Clairvoyants’, ‘Superblood Wolfmoon’ and ‘Quick Escape’ it debuted atop Billboard. Rankings of rock albums, best alternative albums and vinyl albums. It also made the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart, and has reached over 200 million worldwide streams to date.
